About Buying Out Contracts
Governor Martin O’Malley was clear, public funds shouldn’t be used to buy out the contract of University of Maryland football coach Ralph Friedgen’s contract.
If only Governor Martin O’Malley had this mindset back when he used taxpayer funding to buy out the contract of former Port of Baltimore Director Brooks Royster. The State of Maryland, your tax dollars, spent $289,000 to buy out his contract just so a Martin O’Malley supporter could return to head the port. Brooks Royster by all measurable metrics other than union sentiment was doing a good job. At the time, the port had brought in more cargo than any time in its history.
Oh I know, the O’Malley supporters will point to the great deal Maryland got by doing a 50-year lease of the Port of Baltimore. The last time Governor Martin O’Malley entered into a deal we got the Constellation Energy catastrophe that led to higher energy bills in exchange for a one-time credit.
Regardless, I just find it comical that Governor Martin O’Malley would get high and mighty about buying out a contract for the highest paid State employee. Perhaps if one of his political supporters was interested in the job, it would be a different story.
Actually there’s an idea. If only Gary Williams started sucking, Senate President Mike Miller would jump at the chance and then we could get rid of the Senate President.

And speaking of fiddling with carbon credits?
Didn’t O’Malley lock Maryland in with buying carbon credits?
Funny stuff because it has a lot of truth to it.

Today is the Great American Jobs Summit.
However, I find this fascinating.
It tells me no one is really SERIOUS about helping the unemployed.
Not invited;
the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business - both of which have been critical of Mr. Obama’s proposed health care overhaul.

AVCC? Who Cares……..??? Its time Sheila says good bye and ends the Drama!
#70205
She isn’t going anywhere.
Now that she has been found guilty, the political hacks in this state don’t know what to do with her.
When they don’t know, they refuse to act for their own political purposes.
Get off the Sheila subject, would you.
If you want a picture of Americans feeling grim, a poll by Hart Research/Public Opinion Strategies conducted Oct. 30 - Nov. 4 has it for you: 71 percent are dissatisfied with the way things are going in the country right now, 74 percent believe things have changed for the worse in the last 10 years, and 75 percent say people are too divided along political lines.

DD, fuel to help the fire.
The climate warming thesis has about the same degree of validity as the plot of the Hollywood SF clunker The Arrival, in which space aliens land on earth and begin heating up the atmosphere by generating greenhouse gases to accommodate their biology. Those of us who have paid attention know we have been fed a line. The question is whether people will awaken in time and put an end to this insidious design

And by the way, what is difference between Tommy Bromwell and Shelia
More than one company designed and builds that plane.
Thousands of employees across the country (and perhaps extending into millions due to sub-sub-contractors) are affected by the loss/reduction of this plane.
And other related aspects of defense.
Just so you know.
The men-who-stare-at-goats program provided some jobs as well. Maybe instead of one plane, we could design a couple dozen different kinds of planes, creating MILLIONS of high paying jobs in the engineering sector.
Maybe it’s not always all about jobs, but about which weapons program gives the best bang for our buck. And maybe those people who would have built the plane can be employed more efficiently in an area building something we actually need. Just so you know.
I know Indy we can be GREEN, like Stupid O’Malley with his windmills and solar panels.

Green Fakers
You don’t know anything about that specific plane, or others coming.
I do.
Daniel and Indy, put your tails between your legs……..You both no nothing about planes, unless yuor claiming to a Areospace engineer, niether of you are. Heed, Man, has reached his limit of speed in the Sky above you, the human body cannot go much faster without Blackout…..Drones are the new wave, know it! In the mean time, Shelia you are a National disgrace to Maryland and Baltimore, resign NOW! and Leave! Now..enjoy your life and many boy friends! Write a book…….make a million, or unlock some real secrets, that you know and can testify for! That will work for you Girl!
I’m so glad that I’m now a progressive. I can share in the joy with my Denton comrade regarding the plane that is flying the skies now. It can recover from stalls, and even from a tail-first fall…unprecedented.
Of course, I know that my comrade buddy, the avionic genius that he is, is probably already aware of this. He most likely helped to fund its development.
Thank goodness that our fearful, er, fearless leader didn’t change his mind, and tell our enemies at West Point (as Chris Matthews had intelligently noted), that he would continue the development of the F-22, which may have stood a chance against this awesome aircraft…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjJC9IC9aQM
Daniel, sure you. It wouldn’t matter if you designed it single-handedly. It doesn’t mean the money isn’t better spent elsewhere (also resulting in “jobs”). I would think someone on the right would be the last to argue that jobs is the reason to keep some government spending project in place. Then again, philosophical consistency is the hallmark of folks on the right.
Manchester Bob, if we ever even have so much as a biplane lose a dogfight against one of those planes, I stand ready to eat some crow. Ain’t gonna happen. In the event it does, you can all have the last laugh.
Now if one of our friends were to ever be in a fight against one of these (much more likely), it would be of no help. We aren’t allowed to export them.
Nuts!
MD Taxpayer, you are assuming something, and for once you mentioned the correct thing. I am indeed an engineer. For exactly that industry.
Someone else on this board knows that as well.
As for you, Spindy, up yours. You are assuming something also. Only this time it makes an a$$ out of you.
Keep up the bad work. It only verifies what you are.
The Gods of truth are winning.

Manchester Bob, Daniel, DD
Good stuff last night.
So Daniel has admitted that he is a recipient of the middle class welfare that is the defense industry.
I am a bit more conservative - I think that the welfare that we pay out should be to poor people, but it is a free country, if people want to live off the government, they can vote for the politicians who will continue these programs.
#70228
Ouch!
One day you may be voting for Daniel to succeed.
#70228,
I am far more conservative than you think.
My job is to reduce and/or eliminate unnecessary costs on programs. I do it so well I have been promoted twice over the past years.
And at home, I am equally conservative.
At least I have an honest job, dude.
The Victor Cullen Center in Frederick County was supposed to be Maryland’s answer to big, noisy and unsafe juvenile treatment facilities. It is the state’s only secure residential treatment facility for youthful offenders, and when it opened two years ago its program was touted as a model for rehabilitating troubled youths who can’t be served in their communities. But a recent report by a state juvenile justice watchdog group suggests that the program hasn’t lived up to expectations.
http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/2009/12/upcoming_editorial_is_mds_juve.html
They are planning on building MORE.
The department is currently seeking authorization to build two more juvenile treatment centers based on the Cullen model in Baltimore City and Prince George’s County.
Daniel
You see, they know nothing but to attack.
They even find a way to attack the hand that feeds them.
Frickin Liberals.
You could have stopped after - “they know nothing”.
Daniel what a wonderful job you have…….One where , when you strike, you create lasting enenmys……Yes! greta work.
Oh, and one more thing. Just to clear the air about what I do for a living.
We make equipment for civilian airports here in the States, too.
So enjoy your flights to visit your families and friends for the holidays.
Again, you assume too much, 70235.
