O’Malley More UnPopular Than Corzine… WHEN ELECTED BACK IN 2006

By Martin Watcher

I don’t want to rain on Governor Martin O’Malley’s new campaign manager’s parade, but on this rainy Thursday morning, I want to give him a lesson on Maryland politics. Tom Russell, who made his name working for some Democrat group in DC, tried to argue that Martin O’Malley will win hands down in the next election in an absolute worst case scenario based upon some numbers from New Jersey’s latest election.

Mr. Russell points out that in New Jersey, that the absolute hated Governor Jon Corzine, won Democrats by 86% to Chris Christie’s 8% and that if these numbers hold, then O’Malley wins easily. The problem is, that before Governor Martin O’Malley had any negatives to point at in his initial run, he was only able to garner 85% of the Democrat vote, less than Jon Corzine. Yeah, so
Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley started off more hated than New Jersey’s Jon Corzine was after 4 years amongst his own party.

What Mr. Russell doesn’t realize, is that Maryland Democrats are much more conservative as a whole than New Jersey Democrats. On top of that, Maryland Republicans supported Bob Ehrlich by a stronger percentage than the unified group behind Chris Christie in New Jersey, prior to O’Malley’s massive tax hike.

What Mr. Russell needs to look at is the difference between what Jon Corzine did among Democrats in 2005 compared to 2009. That drop, while only a few percentage points, is crucial since Governor Martin O’Malley needs to hold on to every single vote. If only 3% more Democrats abandon Governor O’Malley than in 2006, he is going to the political graveyard.

Did Governor Martin O’Malley alienate 3% more Democratic voters in the past 4 years by his failure to reduce BGE rates as promised, by enacting the largest tax increase in Maryland history, by making President Obama look bad in spending Stimulus funds in the 4th most inefficient way possible, by purchasing land with taxpayer money from politically connected cronies, by cutting funding for developmentally disabled, by playing with his rock band instead of getting the State in line?

Oh, and Mr. Russell, I know this memo was sent to donors, you’re going to need it because Jon Corzine had a bazillion dollars (spending 4 times more than his opponent) and still couldn’t win, you my friend, are having a candidate that has to fly around the country to scrounge for dollars.

Candidate O’Malley starts off even below Corzine did in New Jersey as a loser with his own party. Perhaps he can turn it around, but the rosy picture painted by Mr. Russell in his “worst case scenario” doesn’t take into account actual Maryland voting history, something very important.

So as Governor O’Malley’s campaign manager wants everyone to take a deep breath, he has to pray that 3% of Democrats in the State haven’t noticed all of those broken campaign promises.

Actually Keynes is about more than just momentary stimulus. The banking crisis pretty much confirmed the belief that the private sector can act in an inefficient manner. Are you surprised? I’m not. If not for govt. stimulus many of you would be out selling pencils. Buffett can only bail out so many companies. Your solution? Let everything fail? Sure that would’ve gone over very well.

Clarksville Conservative, what are you talking about? Be specific when you say I’m wrong. Cite the passage that is wrong.

Nowhere in my post did I argue that stimulus programs have a history of working. Nowhere did I say anything about where stimulus funds were spent or whether they should or should not be eliminated. You love the straw man approach, but when pressed can never quote the straw man you are arguing with.

So again I request, (like I did before, but you refused), please cite the specific passage that is wrong. I’m sure we’ll get some kind of mumbo-jumbo that totally skirts this request, but it is just further evidence that you are unable to carry on any rational debate.

Indy, apparently you can’t read or reason; just whine. My post was clear where you are wrong.

For all the rest of you with an economic brain here is the real deal.

Only a small fraction of Maryland’s stimulus dollars are being used to “jump start” the economy and to create new jobs.

The vast majority of the estimated $4 billion coming to Maryland from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be used to prop up insoluble programs like Medicaid, pay pension benefits for state teachers that taxpayers cannot afford, extend food stamp benefits, prevent sexually transmitted diseases, and help the homeless, among other welfare programs.

Less than 20 percent of the money is directed to “shovel-ready” projects like roads, bridges and water supplies. No money is targeted toward creating a lower taxed, pro-business environment that makes the state a competitive for new businesses — the long-term key to Maryland’s health.

The September unemployment rate was 7.2 percent in Maryland. In March it was 6.9 percent. This is a 17-year high.

The “stimulus” legislation was billed by Democrats as a targeted means to get America working and spending again. But so far it’s turned into a short-term trust fund to prop up a government employee lifestyle that taxpayers could not afford before the market crashed.

Signs may point to the economy turning around. But the final accounting will show the “stimulus” package was no stimulus.

Clarksville Conservative, you are wrong. For sixty-five years we have known about the Nazi death camps. Many experts have testified that they did exist and that millions of innocents were killed by the Nazis. So don’t come here peddling your anti-semitic hatred.

And I can’t believe that you think that having intimate relations with dead bodies makes your more of an American. That’s now how most us were raised.

When will you give Obama some credit and stop ignoring the disgraceful mess that this man inherited? If a Republican moved into the White House under such conditions you and all of your idiotic conservative PALS would take to the airwaves bemoaning the horrid state of America and how it was going to take time to fix. Your love interest, the apple of your eye, George W. Bush, stood in front of you and presented you with such a pack of horse **** and you bought the whole thing.

Face it White Man, a brother is in charge and 45% of your white male friends helped put him there. So please shut up and get with the program. Hanging out with Rush and Glenn will get you nowhere. If Sarah Palin and MIke Huckabee are all that you’ve got might as well save the trips to Iowa. But you’ll buy the book and line-up to talk to “Mama Grizzily.”

This state of ours is in a heap of trouble. It’s time to think outside of the box. I do believe it all started in the city of Baltimore. This city has fallen from grace and has effected all 23 surrounding counties. If you all believe Ehrlich is the answer to what ails us, then I suggest you convince him to run for Mayor.

The 5 Worst Cities for Urban Youth
ScoopDaily has compiled a list of the 5 worst cities for urban youth.

My slap happy grand pappy, the man who raised me, worked for 43 years at Bethlehem Steel and he was treated like a rock star: pension, health care, bull roasts on the weekend, etc. Problem? A number of things. American workers are not the problem. They are still the most productive in the world. But, they are expensive. When you can build in another country and keep the profits earned outside of the US off of our tax rolls and not have to deal with the regulatory (OSHA) demands it is no wonder that globalization rules. The interesting aspect is that political stability in the rest of the world actually leads to a decline in wages for US workers. If you can do business without worrying about a coup your more likely to build a plant and bribe the hell out of local officials. We must work on ways to bring jobs back to the US. Any suggestions? Till then ……..
Baltimore is just a small part of a very large picture and I wish Martin O’Malley or Ehrlich were the cause. If the world could only be that simple. Basically, the playing field isn’t level and I think OSHA is good however other parts of the globe allow workers to get sucked into machines with little fear of reprisal. Check out how many workers were killed constructing the venues for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. So think harder Bud Fox, probe, get beneath the surface. Don’t be like Mama Grizzly.

Facts are not a Politicians strong suit. The deaf zone and repeating words are the style that works, if you say or type it enough it will get traction and become “true”.

    -Reform
    -Affordable
    -Smart
    -Moving Forward
    -Green
    -Clean
    -Save
    -etc…

That is what people want to hear, Facts are a stuborn. However, we do get the best politicians money can buy.

Question; Don’t you think the time is ripe for this kind of politics to change?

The people, those who are concerned just want to hear the truth. Facts ARE stubborn things and no amount of money will change that fact.

    AVCC,
The Brave Souls are us, Politcians are insecure ego activists. Today’s so called elected leaders are dismissive and only cater to money. Today’s so called elected leaders only care about numbers.

With most elections within a 48/52 percent spread, voter turnout is always a key factor. I personally have issues with the non-voters as well as the organized “get the vote” out, SEIU, AFSCME, ACORN etc…

The non-voters complain about the results as the paid to access hoe’s get the cash prize.

Truth and facts do not win elections, shallow words and hollow promises that can be broken after victory by using BLAME is the successful play book. Jim Karvel was the master for Clinton.

This blog has it’s place but you need to do your part as well and present your case to every person you know in your neighborhood, church, store, etc..

After Kerry lost in 2004, the machine created the “it’s all Bushes fault” it took years but it got traction.

    “no new taxes”
    “hope and change”
    “one Maryland”
    “believe”

Fow now, it remains a downward slope in Maryland because cash spending and the return of the failed Glendenning retreads that Stupid O’Malley rehired.

As long as the Government is not held accountable by the people, we can all practice the BHO bowel and learn to say “yes boss”

AVCC, a final comment for today.

    Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) Maryland

Household’s countable assets must be worth less than $2,000. Some assets are not counted, such as your home; basic items you need for day-to-day living, such as clothing and household appliances, accessories and furniture; one car of any value; life insurance policies’ cash value; real property other than the family’s home if it is listed for sale; an asset that is not actually available, that is, it cannot be sold.

    http://www.peoples-law.org/income/gov-ben/tca.htm

There are vast opportunities within the system to create voter dependency.

    -Housing assistance
    -Energy assistance
    -Food stamps
    -Medical assitance
    -Daycare for Welfare Queens
    -Grants to non-profits for redistribution

It just gets better by the year.

Imagine a candidate that ran on a campaign, “you need to get off your dead butt and get a job”

I think I will use my HP and print some cash, after all it would be in the interest of the “working families” for “one Maryland” all for the “common good” as we “move forward together” to provide “healthcare for all” while “fixing the structural deficit” by creating “green jobs” thru sustainable increases in energy prices from a LIAR and now Governor Martin O’Malley.

Is that how you see people’s lives? As points to be scored? This is just another illustration of the sick liberal mindset. They only care about the Constitution when they want to use it as a weapon against America. Well the Constitution isn’t a suicide pact. How about YOU tell me where in the Constitution it says we can have all these liberal programs.

You people are a bunch of sick ***** trying to tear America down. Every time a criminal gets off on a technicality, there’s some liberal at the bottom of it. Concerning the Bush votes, I would have voted for a martian before moonbat Gore or emperor Kerry. Bush lost his way in the second term and “thinking”/sarc voters presented us with liberal majorities in the house and sentate and an incompetent, socialist, America hating third stringer in the White House. That’s ok, the tide has turned and a year from now Barry will be a lame duck and can spend more time shooting hoops.

“O’Malley More UnPopular Than Corzine… WHEN ELECTED BACK IN 2006”

Boy & Girls, we need to stop this inner bickering and focus on the future. That future would be ways in which my beloved governor can become popular again.

Suggestions … Suggestions … And, did I mention suggestions?

    My thoughts …

First, I think he needs to included everyone of us in his Christmas & Valentine’s day cards list. Birthday cards with personalized hand written messages would be a bonus, too; but not expected. Next, he could take one of us out to dinner on that day when you or I was working late and can’t make it home to make dinner. Moreover, if he could get your or mine kids ready for school in the morning would help out tremendously. And, when was the last time he asked anyone of you if he could take the kids to the doctor or for haircuts? In fact, if he would just listen to either you or me when we spoke and not give us that glazed over deer in the headlights look would definitely add to his likability. Yes, I realize that he does cut the governor’s mansion lawn and does personally change the oil in the governor’s limo, but these are just examples of minor commitments of the things he does. He still has a lot of free time. And, does he really need to take so many trips? He leaves us citizens to do all the work while he’s out every night drinking with buddies and staying in a hotel room. For just once, I’d like to be the one that goes on the trip and leave him to run my household.

Sitting around and calling yourself governor doesn’t mean you can sit around and do nothing. Therefore, Governor O’Malley, please stop and do what you campaigned on, “Helping working families in Maryland.”
